Marcus Luttrell was born on November 7th, 1975.

At the age of 15, Marcus Luttrell began training to become a Navy SEAL. He was trained by former ARMY soldier Billy Shelton and trained daily with his twin brother Morgan.

In March of 1999, Marcus Luttrell joined the United States Navy.

Marcus Luttrell graduated from Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) Class 228 on April 21, 2000, after overcoming a fractured femur during training.

On February 2, 2001, Marcus Luttrell earned his Navy Enlisted Classification 5326 Combatant Swimmer (SEAL) after completing SEAL Qualification Training. This marked a significant achievement in his career as a U.S. Navy SEAL.

Marcus Luttrell was deployed to Iraq on April 14, 2003, as part of SEAL Team 5 during the 2003 invasion. His mission included rooting out Iraqi resistance, searching for WMDs, and carrying out operations against terrorists.

Petty Officer Marcus Luttrell was awarded the Navy Cross for his extraordinary heroism in Afghanistan in June 2005, where he fought against enemy forces to protect his team. His actions reflected great credit upon him and the United States Naval Service.

On June 28, 2005, Marcus Luttrell and SEAL Team 10 were assigned a mission to kill or capture a high-ranking Taliban leader in Afghanistan. The mission took a tragic turn when the team was discovered by goat herders, leading to a fierce gun battle where Luttrell was the only survivor.

The book written by Marcus Luttrell and Patrick Robinson provides a detailed account of Operation Redwing and the heroic actions of SEAL Team 10 members. It sheds light on the challenges faced during the mission.

In 2007, Marcus Luttrell was awarded the Navy Cross by President Bush for his actions during Operation Red Wings. The Navy Cross citation recognized his valor and bravery.

In 2008, Marcus Luttrell delivered a speech at the Celebration of American Values Leadership Forum during the National Rifle Association of America's annual meeting.

On April 1, 2009, four males approached Marcus Luttrell's property and killed his dog, DASY, with a .357 Magnum revolver. Luttrell chased the individuals through four counties in his truck until they were apprehended by the police. The suspects verbally threatened Luttrell upon arrest.

On November 27, 2010, Marcus Luttrell married Melanie Juneau in Texas.

On May 8, 2011, Marcus Luttrell and Melanie Juneau welcomed their first child, a boy named Axe.

On November 29, 2011, Marcus Luttrell posted on his Facebook page about the upcoming court date for DASY's killers, expressing relief that the trial was finally happening after almost three years. He later confirmed on December 1 that the individuals were found guilty.

On March 7, 2012, Alfonso Hernandez was sentenced to two years in a state jail and fined $1,000 for the felony charge of animal cruelty. Michael John Edmonds, who testified against Hernandez, received five years probation and a $1,000 fine for the same offense. Luttrell expressed disappointment that he believed both defendants should have received the maximum sentence.

On August 26, 2012, Marcus Luttrell and his wife had their second child, a daughter named Addie.

A film adaptation of 'Lone Survivor' starring Mark Wahlberg was released on December 25, 2013, bringing Marcus Luttrell's story to a wider audience.

In early 2014, a major motion picture based on Marcus Luttrell's book 'Lone Survivor' was released, depicting the harrowing story of Operation Red Wing.

Luttrell endorsed the 2016 presidential campaign of former Texas governor Rick Perry and attended Perry's formal announcement on June 4, 2015.

Marcus Luttrell delivered a speech at the Republican National Convention in 2016, endorsing Donald Trump for president. His endorsement carried weight due to his military background and experiences, resonating with the audience.

On November 8, 2022, Marcus Luttrell's twin brother Morgan Luttrell was elected to represent Texas's 8th congressional district, continuing the family's legacy of service.
