Simu Liu

Simu Liu was born on April 19, 1989, in Harbin, China. He is a Canadian actor known for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Simu Liu was laid off from his accounting job at Deloitte in April 2012 after nine months. This event led him to explore other career options and eventually pursue a career as an actor and stuntman.

In November 2013, Simu Liu's short film 'Open Gym', which he wrote, directed, produced, and starred in, debuted at the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival.

Simu Liu's early onscreen credits include appearances as a stuntman in movies and TV shows such as Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim, Avicii's 'I Could Be the One,' Nikita, and Beauty and the Beast.

Simu Liu was cast in his first main role as Jung Kim in the CBC Television sitcom Kim's Convenience, a TV adaptation of the play of the same name. The series was nominated for and won multiple awards internationally, including Best Comedy Series at the 2018 Canadian Screen Awards and 'Most Popular Foreign Drama' at the 2019 Seoul International Drama Awards.

In 2016, Simu Liu was nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore Award in the Outstanding Ensemble category alongside his castmates in the play 'Banana Boys'.
