Chevron Corporation

Chevron Corporation was founded in 1879 in Pico Canyon, California. It is a major player in the oil and gasoline industry.

By 1885, the Pacific Coast Oil Company consolidated its Western interests under its subsidiary, the Standard Oil Co. (Iowa), which controlled distribution stations throughout the West Coast.

In 1895, the Pacific Coast Oil Company launched California's first steel tanker, the George Loomis, marking the beginning of its enduring marine history.

In 1900, Pacific Coast Oil Co. was acquired by the vast industrial empire of the Standard Oil Co. & Trust. This acquisition played a significant role in the development of Chevron Corporation.
