Zhong Shanshan

Zhong Shanshan, born in Hangzhou in 1954, rose to become China's richest person in 2022 with a fortune of $62.3 billion. He is the founder of Nongfu Spring, a leading beverage enterprise known for its natural mineral water.

Zhong Shanshan enrolled at Zhejiang Radio & TV University to study Chinese.

In 1983, Zhong started working as a newspaper reporter at Zhejiang Daily, focusing on agriculture.

In 1988, Zhong Shanshan founded a bottled water company in Hangzhou, which later became Nongfu Spring, the largest bottled water maker in China.

In 1996, Zhong founded Nongfu Spring, a well-known beverage company, and currently holds the position of executive chairman overseeing sales, branding, and human resources.

In 1999, Nongfu Spring made a strategic decision to stop removing natural minerals from its water, which proved to be a successful marketing move.

By 2012, Nongfu Spring's natural water became the most popular bottled water in China.

In May 2013, it was reported that Zhong Shanshan had a stake, investment, or board role in more than 100 companies, showcasing his diverse business interests.
