Osama bin Laden

Osama bin Laden was born on March 10, 1957 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His father was a billionaire construction magnate with close ties to the Saudi royal family.

Osama bin Laden's father, Mohammed bin Laden, died in 1967 in an airplane crash in Saudi Arabia. The crash occurred when his American pilot misjudged a landing.

After the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979, Osama bin Laden left Saudi Arabia to join the Afghan resistance, known as the mujahedeen. He played a significant role in supporting the resistance against the Soviet forces.
