Condé Nast

Condé Montrose Nast, the American publisher, entrepreneur, and founder of Condé Nast, was born in New York City to a family with Midwestern roots. He later went on to establish iconic magazines such as Vanity Fair, Vogue, and The New Yorker.

Condé Montrose Nast purchased Vogue, a small New York society magazine, in 1909. Under his leadership, Vogue transformed into a leading fashion publication in the United States.

In 1911, House & Garden was launched to replicate Vogue's success in interior design and park and garden landscaping.
